Senior Data Engineer

Salary: £60,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements:

• Experience across Microsoft Fabric and/or the wider Azure data ecosystem
• SQL experience
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or Databricks
• Experience in ETL/ELT and data pipeline development
• Experience with data warehousing and Lakehouse architectures
• Experience with dimensional/data modelling
• Experience with Python and/or PySpark
• Experience with Power BI data models
• Experience with data quality and governance

Responsibilities:

• Design and build scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines from multiple data sources
• Develop and maintain data models, schemas, data warehouses, and Lakehouse solutions
• Work within a modern Microsoft/Azure data environment, including Microsoft Fabric
• Develop datasets and models to support Power BI and analytics
• Improve data quality, reliability, automation, and performance
• Contribute to data architecture and technical design decisions
• Work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand data requirements
• Provide technical guidance and support to other members of the team
• Ensure appropriate data governance, security, and GDPR standards are maintained

We are a large, established organisation in the North East, working with a modern Data & Technology function on a hands-on senior data engineering role. This is a 2-year fixed-term contract offering hybrid working, with office attendance required across Newcastle and County Durham. The role is focused on building scalable data infrastructure across Microsoft data technologies, and is suited to an experienced Senior Data Engineer, Lead Data Engineer, or Azure Data Engineer who enjoys remaining hands-on while taking ownership of technical direction and solution design. The salary is £60,000.
