Senior DevOps Engineer

Salary: £90,000 - 120,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for an experienced platform or infrastructure engineer with a strong hands-on background in Azure, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and cloud platform engineering.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build and operate secure, resilient and scalable Microsoft Azure infrastructure supporting application delivery across cloud and on-premise environments.
• Lead the design, configuration and continuous improvement of CI/CD pipelines, including build, test, deployment and release automation.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code standards and reusable Terraform patterns to promote consistency, security and maintainability.
• Implement robust delivery automation using GitLab, Kubernetes, Terraform and modern DevOps and platform-engineering practices.
• Establish engineering standards, reference architectures, guardrails and reusable platform services that support operational excellence.
• Partner with architects, development teams and Group technology colleagues on cloud adoption and application-modernisation initiatives, including environment design, migration planning and deployment automation.
• Take ownership of complex technical designs, implementations and operational issues, ensuring solutions are secure, supportable, cost-effective and operationally ready.
• Embed security, resilience, compliance, monitoring and performance considerations throughout platform design and delivery.
• Contribute to technical reviews, knowledge sharing and team capability development, maintaining high-quality architecture documentation, runbooks and operational procedures.
• Support incident and problem resolution, change planning, capacity and performance improvement, and the evaluation of new technologies where they deliver measurable value.

We are a small, collaborative Platform and Infrastructure Engineering team offering a senior, hands-on role with meaningful technical ownership. You will work closely with our Platform & Infrastructure Team Head, Group technology teams and development colleagues to shape and deliver our UK cloud strategy. The role offers exposure to modern Azure, DevOps, Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code technologies in a collaborative environment focused on automation, reliability and continuous improvement. This is an individual-contributor position with no formal people-management responsibility, but with the opportunity to provide technical leadership, influence engineering direction and help shape the future of our platform estate.
