Server Engineer (Project based)

Salary: £78,000 - 91,000 per year

Requirements:

• Proven experience delivering Windows Server upgrade or migration projects.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2012/2016 environments.
• Experience with application migrations, remediation, and testing.
• Excellent troubleshooting and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently within a structured project environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assess application and server readiness for migration.
• Identify and resolve compatibility issues.
• Coordinate application remediation, testing, and migration activities.
• Work closely with infrastructure, security, application owners, and third-party suppliers.
• Support migration planning, cutovers, and post-migration validation.

We are hiring a Server Project Engineer to join a major infrastructure upgrade programme, supporting the migration of applications currently hosted on Windows Server 2012 and 2016 to Windows Server 2025. This is a 12-month initial contract with potential extensions, offering a rate of £300-£350 per day Outside IR35. The role is onsite five days per week in Hereford, and candidates will ideally be based locally. The start date is ASAP.
