Platform and Application Engineer

Salary: £45,000 - 80,000 per year

Requirements:

• 4 to 8 years of working experience in the DevOps field.
• Demonstrable background in software development and build.
• Good understanding of the software development lifecycle.
• Strong experience with at least one programming language, such as Python, Groovy, Java, Golang, C, or C++.
• Experience with Cloudbees CI or Jenkins Pipelines.
• Experience with containerisation tools and platforms, including Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and ArgoCD.
• Experience with Linux-based infrastructure build, provisioning, and maintenance.
• Good knowledge of cloud services, with experience in at least one of AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform; AWS is preferred.
• Demonstrable experience with infrastructure as code technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet.
• Preferred: experience working in a Platform Engineering environment focused on developer experience, efficiency, and self-service automation.
• Preferred: experience with microservice software development.
• Preferred: experience using AI-assisted tools or techniques to improve engineering efficiency, productivity, and developer workflows.

Responsibilities:

• Work hands-on with a variety of technologies to provide an outstanding engineering experience for our hardware and software engineers.
• Support software builds and test solutions using CI/CD, binary, secret, and test management.
• Develop services using SaaS, cloud-based environments, and large-scale clustered compute.
• Exploit virtualisation and cloud technologies using Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Improve the daily life and efficiency of engineers across Arm.
• Own technical deliveries from requirements through planning, implementation, and delivery.
• Participate in production support and our paid on-call rota for high-impact incident response.
