Job Description

Salary: £45,000 - 83,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Deep hands-on AWS expertise at enterprise scale, including multi-account architectures, IAM, KMS, and core compute, storage, and security services
  • Real production experience with Azure alongside AWS, including landing zones, VNet architectures, Entra ID, and governance models
  • Expert-level Terraform experience, including reusable modules, secure state management, and disciplined code review
  • Comfortable working in a Git-based workflow with CI/CD
  • Strong cloud networking knowledge, including VPC and VNet design, hub-and-spoke or Transit Gateway/Cloud WAN architectures, DNS, and private connectivity
  • Solid experience running containerised workloads in production, ideally on EKS or AKS
  • Experience operating in regulated environments with awareness of change control, least privilege, and auditability
  • Familiarity with PCI DSS is a strong plus
  • Focus on observability and measurement
  • Natural ability to guide and mentor peers and translate ambiguous problems into actionable technical plans
  • Pragmatic problem-solving mindset, including incident resolution and root-cause analysis
  • 5+ years in cloud engineering roles with significant AWS depth
  • A degree in Computer Science or a related field is useful but not required
Responsibilities:
  • Take ownership of large-scale platform projects end to end, from architecture through Terraform to production
  • Build scalable, secure, and cost-optimised platform solutions
  • Design platform primitives that product teams build on, making the secure path the easy path
  • Work with Engineering Managers and architects to refine requirements and shape the technical direction of the platform
  • Document significant technical decisions as ADRs
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert for team-owned services and provide advanced operational support
  • Ensure high availability for global payment systems
  • Produce exemplary code and documentation to spread best practices and standards across the group
  • Manage technical dependencies inside and outside the pillar to support delivery speed and business outcomes
  • Embody our operating principles and help shape the groups culture
  • Explore and implement AI-driven automation to improve infrastructure efficiency and team productivity
