Software Developer

Salary: £80,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require at least three years commercial experience as a Software Developer, Backend Developer or Backend Software Engineer.
• We require strong commercial development experience using Node.js, and Node.js or Node experience must be clearly stated on your CV.
• We require experience designing and building scalable backend systems.
• We require experience developing and maintaining APIs and service integrations.
• We require experience working with distributed, real-time or event-driven systems.
• We require familiarity with technologies such as WebSockets, message queues or streaming services.
• We require experience working with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• We require a strong understanding of SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
• We require experience integrating with external APIs and third-party systems.
• We require a good understanding of software architecture, application security and development best practices.
• We require experience writing maintainable, testable and production-ready code.

Responsibilities:

• We design, develop and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js.
• We build the services and infrastructure powering our real-time AI voice platform.
• We develop APIs and integrations that support conversational workflows and healthcare systems.
• We work on event-driven systems handling telephony, streaming data and AI-generated responses.
• We integrate with external platforms, including GP clinical systems, online consultation platforms and third-party APIs.
• We help design systems capable of supporting large volumes of concurrent patient interactions.
• We optimise backend services for performance, reliability, scalability and low latency.
• We diagnose and resolve technical issues across development and production environments.
• We contribute to decisions regarding system architecture, infrastructure and engineering best practices.
• We write clean, maintainable and well-tested code.
• We participate in code reviews and contribute to improving development standards.
• We work closely with product, operations and clinical teams to understand requirements and develop appropriate technical solutions.
• We support the monitoring, maintenance and continued improvement of production systems.
• We contribute to technical documentation and internal development processes.
• We help ensure systems are developed in line with the security, privacy and reliability requirements of a healthcare environment.

We are InTouchNow AI, a fast-growing healthcare technology company building and scaling the backend infrastructure behind our AI voice platform for healthcare. Our platform supports real-time patient interactions across GP practices and clinics, helping improve patient access and reduce pressure on primary care teams. This is an opportunity to work on next-generation conversational AI technology, shape the core architecture of our platform, and work directly with our CTO and wider development team. We offer a competitive salary of £80,000 to £90,000 per year depending on experience, private health insurance, free on-site office parking, 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays, and a workplace pension scheme. We work in a hybrid arrangement from our Borehamwood, Hertfordshire office, with a minimum of three days per week in the office, and the role is full-time, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
