Modern Workplace Engineer

Salary: £65,000 - 65,000 per year

Requirements:

• Senior-level, hands-on experience across Microsoft 365
• Strong capability in Entra ID, Intune, endpoint security, Copilot and SharePoint
• Solid background in Microsoft security tooling and secure design
• Experience working in MSP or multi-tenant environments
• Confidence working directly with customers at both technical and business levels
• Relevant Microsoft certifications such as MS-102, MD-102 and SC or AZ security pathways
• PowerShell scripting and automation experience is desirable
• Exposure to Microsoft Defender XDR and Sentinel is desirable
• Experience contributing to or improving technical standards across teams is desirable

Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of tenant design, security posture and operational standards across identity, devices and collaboration tools
• Act as a trusted technical contact for customers, translating business needs into secure and reliable Microsoft solutions
• Help lead and shape technical decisions and raise engineering quality across the service we provide
• Provide leadership and collaboration as a technical authority and escalation point for complex incidents and projects
• Build and shape relationships with customers, becoming a trusted advisor
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, including sharing knowledge, mentoring and upskilling junior engineers
• Contribute to technical standards and direction
• Design, deploy and optimise Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive and Microsoft 365 Groups and lifecycle governance
• Lead tenant reviews, remediation and platform standardisation activities
• Drive adoption of modern working practices in a secure, governed manner
• Support migrations and transformations from legacy or poorly configured environments
• Design and manage secure identity architectures using Microsoft Entra ID
• Implement and maintain Conditional Access policies, MFA and passwordless authentication, and Privileged Identity Management (PIM)
• Engineer and operate Microsoft security tooling including Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Purview
• Apply Zero Trust principles and Microsoft security best practices
• Support customer compliance needs such as ISO 27001-aligned controls and GDPR considerations
• Architect and manage device estates using Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot
• Define secure baseline configurations for Windows 11, macOS, iOS and Android
• Improve device security posture, patching and lifecycle management
• Use PowerShell and automation to reduce manual effort, improve consistency and reliability
• Contribute to documentation, runbooks and internal standards
• Partner with operations teams to improve repeatability and service quality
