Lead DevOps Engineer

Salary: £47,000 - 87,000 per year

Requirements:

• We have deep expertise with AWS at scale, including EKS (Automode), Lambda, EC2, RDS/Aurora, multi-region networking, and security services such as IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, SCPs, Security Hub, and GuardDuty.
• We have proven ownership of a production-grade EKS platform with zero-downtime deployments, including ArgoCD, Istio, blue/green, and canary strategies.
• We are Terraform experts who have set IaC standards for a team.
• We have strong CI/CD expertise, with a focus on automating fast, secure, seamless deployments and improving developer experience.
• We have experience embedding AI into SDLC workflows.
• We have hands-on disaster recovery experience, including automated backup, multi-region or multi-AZ failover, AWS FIS testing, and formal DR exercises with defined RTO/RPO targets.
• We are familiar with working in compliant environments and are comfortable with security audits, risk conversations, and tools such as CrowdStrike, Rapid7, and SIEM/SOC platforms.
• We have observability ownership experience with Datadog or equivalent, including defining SLOs, dashboards, and alerting culture.
• We have experience leading or mentoring a DevOps team and growing engineers.
• We are comfortable with Python, Bash, Ansible, Helm, and GitHub Actions.

Responsibilities:

• Own the end-to-end reliability, stability, performance, security posture, and resilience of our production platform.
• Enforce platform SLAs across availability, security posture, and resilience, and define incident response standards.
• Run and maintain our multi-region, zero-downtime platform, including deployment strategies, traffic management, and failover patterns.
• Own our platform security controls end to end, including networking, IAM, KMS, secrets management, vulnerability management, and compliance.
• Participate in disaster recovery strategy, automation, execution, and continuous improvement.
• Drive our platform total cost of ownership strategy, including cost visibility, rightsizing, tagging, and architecture decisions.
• Set and maintain our Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD standards using Terraform and Terragrunt.
• Own our observability strategy using Datadog, including SLO/SLA dashboards, alerting thresholds, runbooks, and feedback loops.
• Lead and grow our DevOps engineers through technical direction, design reviews, mentoring, and development.
• Lead our adoption of AI-assisted operations across CI/CD, runbook automation, incident response, and developer tooling.
