Senior AI Engineer

Salary: £28,000 - 51,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require a minimum 2.1 degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Statistics, or a similar quantitative field.
• We require demonstrable experience deploying modern AI/ML solutions into production, including prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), model evaluation, and monitoring using metrics such as precision, recall, NDCG, and drift detection.
• We require strong Python skills with a grounding in software engineering best practices, including CI/CD, testing, and code reviews.
• We require experience developing solutions at scale on cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS, as well as with containerisation and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes and Docker.
• We require expertise in data engineering for AI, including handling large-scale unstructured and multimodal data.
• We require understanding of responsible AI principles, model interpretability, and ethical considerations.
• We require strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team.
• We value experience with modern deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow, fine-tuning or distillation of LLMs such as GPT, Llama, Claude, or Gemini, and machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn and XGBoost.
• We value experience with data storage for AI, vector databases, semantic search, and knowledge graphs.
• We value contributions to open-source AI projects or research publications.
• We value familiarity with AI security, privacy, and compliance standards such as ISO42001.

Responsibilities:

• We deliver advanced AI solutions leveraging machine learning, generative AI, and agentic AI technologies.
• We drive adoption of modern AI frameworks, AIOps best practices, and scalable cloud-native architectures.
• We work hands-on to translate customer business challenges into trustworthy AI solutions.
• We ensure responsible AI practices throughout delivery.
• We act as technical mentors, fostering innovation, continuous learning, and engineering excellence.
• We make sound, reasoned decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• We learn new technologies and approaches while collaborating with talented colleagues.
• We support colleagues and more junior developers by providing direction and helping solve challenging problems.
