Senior Software Engineering Manager

Salary: £100,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in electronics and communications engineering, computer engineering, or computer science
• 10 years of experience in a software development role in networking or similar adjacent technology
• 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role and/or people management role
• Familiarity with Linux development environments
• Experience with C, Linux, and Python
• Knowledge of network routers/switches or routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP
• Experience in open-source software development
• Knowledge of cloud-native application development
• Knowledge of distributed systems and Python-based microservices
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to understand complex technologies and manage people effectively

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership and managerial guidance to a team of 10 software engineers
• Recruit and mentor staff to grow team capability and individual talent
• Review product requirements and feature requests, providing development effort estimates and risk assessments to senior management
• Influence architectural decisions, design and code reviews, test plans, and technology strategy
• Manage multiple concurrent projects to deliver committed features on time
• Foster continuous improvement in software engineering practices and product quality
• Improve performance, scalability, availability, and flexibility of products
• Work closely with other software development teams, product line management, QA, and technical support
