SC Cleared Virtualisation Engineer

Salary: £60,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong experience with VMware virtualisation platforms, including vSphere, ESXi and vCenter
• Proven knowledge of VMware Cloud Foundation and SDDC, including NSX, vSAN and VCF Operations
• Automation experience using tools such as PowerCLI, Terraform, Ansible or SaltStack
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and API-driven automation approaches
• Understanding of enterprise networking and underpinning services such as DNS and load balancing
• Ability to troubleshoot, analyse and communicate clearly with technical teams
• Confidence delivering in secure or regulated environments
• UK Security Clearance (SC), or eligibility to obtain it
• Desirable: experience with Kubernetes on VCF (VKS)
• Desirable: familiarity with hybrid cloud, GitOps and resilience concepts such as backup and DR
• Desirable: Agile delivery and Atlassian tools experience

Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy and manage VMware Cloud Foundation virtualisation platforms
• Implement core VCF components including vSphere, NSX, vSAN, VCF Operations, VPC and VKS
• Build Infrastructure as Code for automated, consistent platform deployments
• Create API-driven automation for provisioning, configuration and lifecycle management
• Support platform lifecycle activities such as build, upgrades, patching and scaling
• Integrate virtualisation platforms with enterprise services, including networking, DNS, identity and DevOps toolchains
• Produce technical artefacts including low-level designs, build guides and runbooks
• Support integration, testing and operational handover, including change impact assessments and risk identification
• Improve stability, performance and scalability through continuous automation and standardisation

We are offering a 6-month contract, with possible extension, for a hands-on Platform Engineer role based in London at a rate of up to £750 per day via an approved umbrella company. We are looking for someone willing and eligible to go through the SC Clearance process, who enjoys turning architecture into repeatable, deployable solutions and helping teams move faster with confidence.
