Zscaler Cyber Engineer

Salary: £41,000 - 69,500 per year

Requirements:

• We need deep technical expertise in Zscaler ZIA and ZPA, with CASB desirable.
• We need experience with identity integration, including Entra ID, SSO, SCIM, and Conditional Access.
• We need experience with Azure IaaS and networking, including VPN Gateway, routing, and connectivity design.
• We need strong working knowledge of enterprise networking, including routing, switching, and firewalls.
• We need experience in security operations, logging, and SIEM integration.
• We need proven experience leading engineering teams across infrastructure, network, or security transformations.
• We need strong data handling capability, including advanced Excel for engineering control and analysis.
• We need the ability to operate effectively in ambiguous and evolving technical environments.

Responsibilities:

• We will provide hands-on technical leadership across Infrastructure and Network Engineering teams, helping resolve technical issues and design challenges.
• We will act as subject matter experts across Zscaler ZIA, ZPA, CASB, and Azure.
• We will review relevant Zscaler designs and act as the escalation point for technical migration challenges.
• We will work with the PM to plan and oversee execution of the proxy migration workstream across on-premises and Azure estates.
• We will manage migration waves, cutover activities, and rollback planning.
• We will ensure minimal service disruption and alignment with security standards.
• We will coordinate interdependencies with infrastructure, application, and network teams.
• We will own and govern the core engineering dataset supporting migration.
• We will develop and maintain technical artefacts and engineering controls to support engineering decision-making.
• We will provide technical assurance and reporting to the project manager.
• We will identify and manage technical risks, issues, and constraints.
• We will ensure consistency and quality across project engineering outputs.
• We will deliver migration control datasets, validated migration data, technical progress reporting, successful migration of in-scope services to ZIA, and post-migration validation and issue resolution.

We are hiring a Zscaler Engineer to join our Cyber team on a 6-month contract at a day rate of £450-£500 inside IR35. The role is based in Preston with ad hoc site travel, but it is mainly remote. We are delivering a structured migration from a legacy Trend web proxy solution to Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA), and this role will provide the technical leadership, coordination, and assurance needed to support successful delivery across our engineering teams.
