Job Description


Job Purpose

The European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) seeks a Working Student to assist with European Security Programme’s overall event management and logistics activities and research efforts, ensuring the smooth execution of various tasks related to organizing events and research activities. This role offers hands-on experience in both research and planning and coordinating events within an international non-profit organization. Key responsibilities include managing RSVPs, coordinating catering, handling logistical arrangements, and supporting our research output. This is a great opportunity to learn the behind-the-scenes aspects of research and event management in a dynamic, multinational environment.  


Main Responsibilities

  • Assist in the organisation of events, including preparing lists of participants, sending invitations, tracking registrations, and liaising with attendees; 
  • Support with research and follow relevant debates and monitor political developments related to the programme’s work;
  • Assist in handling logistical tasks such as coordinating with venues, hotels and catering companies;
  • Monitor and respond to the general programme inbox, ensuring timely and accurate communication with partners and participants; 
  • Update and maintain the programmes contact database.


Person Specification

Education

  • Currently enrolled in Political Science, International Relations, Event Management or a related field in a German university or higher education institution. Please note that graduates are not eligible.

Skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).  
  • Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. 
  • Strong critical thinking, research, and analytical skills
  • Proactive and flexible attitude, with a willingness to take on varied responsibilities, including administrative and logistical tasks. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

  • Enthusiastic and proactive approach to work  
  • Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Adaptable and flexible with a willingness to take on varied tasks  
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multinational team
