Requirements:- Experience developing embedded software with C and C++ is essential.
- Knowledge of real-time operating systems is required.
- Experience with Rhapsody UML or other model-driven development tools is required.
- Experience testing software against requirements and ICDs on both host and target hardware is required.
- Experience with IBM Engineering Work Management or Rational Team Concert is required.
- Team leading experience is beneficial.
- Strong analytical and design skills, including review, critical analysis, and generation of design documentation.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders, including SMEs, Systems Engineering, and Test and Validation.
- A proactive, flexible, can-do approach to solving technical problems.
- Lead and guide a team of software developers to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Work with the Software Project Leader and stakeholders to define project requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
- Coordinate team activities, assign tasks, and ensure deadlines are met.
- Identify and communicate technical risks and technical debt to the Software Project Leader.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across the team and with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ensure the team follows software development best practices, quality assurance processes, and coding standards.
- Identify and support process improvement and optimization opportunities.
- Capture, communicate, and report development metrics to the Software Project Leader.
- Support the full software development lifecycle from requirements gathering through to deployment.

We are a world-class defence organisation recruiting a hands-on Software Engineering Team Leader for an initial 6-month contract based in Bristol. This is a full-time on-site role with occasional work from home days, offering 37 hours per week with overtime paid at time and a quarter for hours worked over 37. The position sits inside IR35 and is intended to continue beyond the initial contract term. You will join our dynamic team to help deliver our Missile Control Software in a collaborative, iterative environment, working closely with the Software Project Leader and engineers across other departments.
