Software Developer Senior Consultant

Salary: £75,000 - 75,000 per year

Requirements:

• This role involves weekly on-site work and regular travel to client locations across the UK.

• Due to the nature of this role, you must either hold active Security Check (SC) clearance or be eligible and willing to undergo the clearance process.
• Typically, applicants must have UK citizenship and have lived continuously in the UK for at least the past five years, with no single absence exceeding 28 consecutive days.
• You should have experience as a Senior Software Developer and be able to demonstrate, with tangible examples, that you can lead the design and delivery of high-quality, user-centred services using Java or Scala.
• You should be able to use a range of technologies, including languages such as Kotlin, Ruby or JavaScript, to solve real problems in the right way.
• You should be able to design and build scalable, maintainable systems, considering performance, security and accessibility.
• You should be able to build quality into your work by embedding strong testing practices throughout delivery.
• You should have recent government (public sector) experience.
• You should be able to deliver complex digital services aligned to Government Digital Service (GDS) standards, supporting others to do the same.
• You should be able to explore and adopt new technologies, helping teams learn and continuously improve.
• You should be able to work within agile teams to deliver value early and often, adapting to changing needs.
• You should be able to shape and guide delivery by driving clear, prioritised backlogs aligned to user and client needs.

We are partnering directly to hire for Opencast Software, a consultancy that cares more about engineering craft, clean design and thoughtful problem-solving than how fast developers ship tickets. The role is varied, technical and collaborative, with opportunities for learning and development.
