Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Salary: £55,000 - 65,000 per year

Requirements:

• Genuine 3rd / 4th line infrastructure engineering experience
• Proven experience personally building and configuring infrastructure, not only supporting environments built by others
• Strong experience with Windows Server and Windows client technologies
• Strong Active Directory experience
• Strong Group Policy experience
• Strong experience with DFS, DHCP and DNS
• Good understanding of networking fundamentals and topologies
• Experience deploying server and client applications, including IIS and Tomcat
• Experience with infrastructure build, implementation and troubleshooting
• Ability to work from technical design documentation and independently take a solution through to implementation
• SC clearance is required
• Current SC clearance is strongly preferred, or eligibility to obtain SC clearance

Responsibilities:

• Work across infrastructure projects including new deployments, upgrades, migrations and improvements to existing environments
• Build and configure Windows Server environments
• Design and implement Active Directory domains, including multi-domain and multi-forest environments
• Deploy and manage server and client applications
• Configure and troubleshoot Group Policy
• Work across DFS, DHCP, DNS and associated networking
• Take HLDs / LLDs and turn them into working infrastructure solutions
• Troubleshoot complex server, application and network issues
• Support infrastructure upgrades, migrations and new deployments
• Identify improvements across the end-to-end infrastructure lifecycle

We are a growing technology team based onsite in Derby, working on complex, secure, predominantly on-premise infrastructure environments. This is a hands-on engineering role where we need someone who can contribute quickly, take ownership of delivery, and work closely with the technology rather than simply escalating issues. The role is based onsite in Derby, with candidates from Derby, Nottingham, Leicester, the wider East Midlands and Birmingham considered where the commute is realistic. The package is £55,000-£65,000 depending on experience and clearance status, with standard office hours and occasional earlier starts or weekend work when project demands require it.
