Senior Engineering Lead, Send Experience

Salary: £100,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:

• Experience leading teams that build customer-facing apps or websites that simplify complex problems
• Strong technical background in backend and client engineering, with an understanding of scalable architecture
• Experience leading high-performing teams, including hiring, performance management, and coaching
• Ability to scale impact through Engineering Leads and senior engineers
• Product mindset and ability to connect technical work to business goals and customer value
• Strategic thinking, from reviewing code to planning long-term technical strategy
• Strong communication skills, including explaining technical decisions to non-technical partners, constructively challenging ideas, and building alignment
• Nice to have: Experience building AI Assistants or other AI-powered experiences
• Nice to have: Experience in payments, fintech, or another global regulated product environment
• Nice to have: Experience building high-throughput APIs for enterprise or platform clients
• Nice to have: Experience scaling a domain from one team into a multi-team organisation

Responsibilities:

• Own the Send customer journey end to end and shape its experience at global scale
• Work with Product, Design, and Analytics to shape strategy and the roadmap, identify important customer problems, and decide how to solve them
• Set technical direction and balance execution speed with quality, security, and long-term scale
• Lead two teams through Engineering Leads, with scope to grow the group
• Coach Engineering Leads and help their teams deliver customer value
• Work with Product to set the product roadmap and make trade-offs between speed, security, and long-term scale
• Set clear outcomes, priorities, and ownership; remove blockers and enable fast, reliable delivery
• Act as the primary technical owner for Send, lead architectural decisions, and address technical debt
• Improve reliability, security, and operational health, ensuring teams proactively manage services relied on by millions of customers
• Own the performance, career growth, and wellbeing of Engineering Leads, while remaining accountable for the engineers they lead
• Work with Global Product, Regional, and other functions to align the roadmap with our wider strategy
• Help teams navigate complex priorities and make trade-offs between speed, quality, and risk
