Scala Developer

Salary: £127,400 - 127,400 per year

Requirements:

• Strong commercial experience with Scala
• Experience developing applications using Play Framework
• Strong knowledge of unit testing and integration testing
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Experience developing and supporting microservices architectures
• Desirable: cloud-based infrastructure experience
• Desirable: understanding of application security principles
• Desirable: experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
• Desirable: experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD)
• Desirable: experience with pair programming

Responsibilities:

• Develop and enhance Scala Play microservices
• Deliver high-quality code within Agile delivery teams
• Work closely with researchers, designers and technical specialists
• Support services throughout the full development lifecycle

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices
• Collaborate across development communities to share knowledge and drive innovation

We are recruiting for an experienced Scala Developer to join a major public sector digital transformation programme supporting the UK governments Making Tax Digital initiative. The role is based in Telford with onsite working required two days per week, on a long-term 6-month assignment with potential extension opportunities. You will work in a collaborative, supportive Agile environment alongside multidisciplinary teams, gaining exposure to modern cloud technologies, DevOps practices and high-profile government digital services that help transform the UK tax system.
