SC Data Architect
Job Description
Salary: £60,000 - 90,000 per year
Requirements:- Active SC Clearance is required
- Strong, hands-on data architecture experience in complex environments
- Experience with multiple data storage technologies used in data warehouse and data lake solutions, including relational DBMS, NoSQL, graph databases, cloud object storage and DB as a service
- Experience designing ETL/ELT solutions using a range of tooling
- Experience designing and applying data virtualisation technologies at enterprise scale
- Experience with data exploitation solutions and technologies, including analytics, reporting and APIs
- Expertise in data modelling within large, complex IT estates
- Experience implementing multiple data architectures and integrating data management and governance tooling
- Experience working with Agile, CI/CD, DevOps and test automation
- Experience delivering across on-premise, cloud and hybrid environments, including cloud migration programmes
- Experience setting direction and technical scope, building or leading technical teams, and managing technical deliverables
- Strong communication, influencing and facilitation skills, especially for troubleshooting, problem-solving and decision-making
- Resilience, flexibility and ability to adapt to changing schedules and priorities
- Ability to deliver results and exceed client expectations
- Experience integrating third-party products into complex estates and leading end-to-end delivery in multi-supplier engagements
- Desirable: experience with lakehouse deployments and modern cloud-native data platforms
- Desirable: practical understanding of the impact and usage of AI services to improve data quality, consumption and processing
- Desirable: experience contributing to commercial proposals, bids, or shaping technical approaches

- Take ownership of solution design and guide delivery teams through complex technical decisions
- Design data architectures covering cataloguing, metadata, lineage, quality, ownership and classification
- Ensure data is trusted, discoverable, secure and fit for purpose from source to consumption
- Shape how data is designed for consumption by humans, analytics users, applications and AI-driven services
- Provide architectural direction on the safe and governed adoption of AI and agent-based capabilities within data and analytics platforms
- Produce architectures and designs for complex end-to-end data solutions, including data storage and management, ETL/ELT, reporting and analytics
- Advise clients on architecture, infrastructure, platform and engineering best practices across data warehouse and data lake solutions
- Take ownership of client requirements, deliverables and accountabilities
- Ensure adherence to architecture governance processes, industry best practices and the clients architecture vision
- Drive solution development and documentation throughout the lifecycle
- Provide architectural oversight and governance at all stages
- Build trusted-advisor relationships with clients through bold, honest and credible technical leadership
- Manage relationships with vendors, third parties and key internal stakeholders
- Own technical problem management and resolution relevant to solution development

We are expanding our architecture capability for one of our largest UK public sector clients. This is an initial 6-month contract based in Telford, with a hybrid working pattern of 2 days per week onsite and a rate of up to £690 per day, umbrella inside IR35. We require an active SC clearance. In this role, you will help shape and deliver data and analytics solutions that support key client priorities such as improving efficiency, maximising revenues, reducing fraud and responding rapidly to policy challenges. You will act as a technical leader from the outset, owning end-to-end solution design through delivery and implementation into live service. We value people who are confident, collaborative, resilient and curious, and who can bring strong technical leadership while building trusted relationships across delivery, engineering, governance and stakeholder communities.
