SC Cleared Backup Engineer

Salary: £60,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require at least 5-10 years experience supporting 2nd to 3rd line backups of servers and virtual payloads.
• We require good knowledge of backup and restore technologies.
• We require experience using and supporting Veritas NetBackup software and storage appliances.
• We require experience supporting backups within VMware environments.
• We require general knowledge of supporting backups across various server operating systems, including Windows, Linux (RHEL & SLES), AIX and Solaris.
• We require strong teamwork and interpersonal communication skills.
• We require proven problem-solving ability.
• We require a proactive approach to personal workload management.
• We require awareness of the ITIL Service Management framework, specifically Incident and Change Management.
• We require candidates who are willing and eligible to undergo the SC vetting process.

Responsibilities:

• We provide 2nd and 3rd line support for enterprise backup environments.
• We support backup solutions across Live, Development and Test platforms.
• We deliver change, project, migration and transformation activities.
• We troubleshoot and resolve complex backup and recovery incidents.
• We work within established incident and change management processes.
• We collaborate with technical teams to ensure service availability and successful project delivery.
• We support Managed Service and Project activities across Live, Development and Test environments.
• We may work occasional out-of-hours shifts where required.

We are seeking an experienced SC Cleared Backup Engineer to join our Backup team on a remote contract with potential travel to Telford as required. The role is for 6 months with possible extension, paying up to £550 per day via an approved umbrella company. We support enterprise backup solutions with a focus on Veritas NetBackup, and this opportunity combines BAU support with project delivery in a complex enterprise environment, contributing to critical backup services as well as migration and transformation projects.
