Python Senior Software Engineer Manchester

Salary: £61,000 - 101,000 per year

Requirements:

• Familiarity with a variety of development tools and techniques, including IDEs, debuggers, source control, unit testing, mocking, continuous integration, and test-driven development.
• Knowledge of the principles of high-assurance development and an awareness of the importance of IT security for companies and governments.
• Intermediate to advanced understanding of computing principles, such as stack/heap distinction and compiled/interpreted languages.
• Proficiency with at least one solution language, such as C++, Java, or C#, and one utility language, such as Python, JavaScript, Perl, or PowerShell.
• Ability to use and configure more than one major operating system.
• Ability to pick up new languages and technologies easily.
• Ability to communicate technical topics to a variety of audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring others and/or leading technical tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Understand and use various development methodologies to deliver solutions to our customers, factoring operational security into system design, development, and testing.
• Work in teams to deliver high-assurance code, conduct constructive peer review, and share knowledge with junior team members.
• Design, develop, test, and document software in accordance with business and industry best practices to meet customer requirements, leveraging continuous integration where appropriate.
• Embrace emerging technology, tools, and language trends while identifying the risks they could present.
• Identify flaws during solution design and implementation, along with appropriate mitigations.
