Network Support Engineer
Job Description
Salary: £40,000 - 70,000 per year
Requirements:- 1–2 years experience in a SOC, IT support, networking, or similar technical role.
- Strong networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routing, and packet analysis, with solid troubleshooting instincts.
- The ability to prioritise, stay organised, and communicate clearly under pressure.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, shift-based environment, including nights and weekends.
- Experience with SIEM tools, with Splunk preferred.
- Working knowledge of DDoS attacks and network security concepts.
- Familiarity with virtualisation technologies, including KVM and ESXi.
- Linux and basic scripting or automation skills, such as Python and Bash.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA, CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, CySA+, or CyberOps.
- Triage and resolve security incidents and customer tickets in a live production environment as part of 1st/2nd line support.
- Monitor, analyse, and investigate network traffic and emerging threats, including active DDoS activity.
- Support customer maintenance, upgrades, and technical communications.
- Contribute to incident response and post-incident reviews that improve our detection and mitigation playbooks.
- Work within ITIL processes, including Incident, Change, Problem, and Service Requests.
- Document procedures, grow the SOC knowledge base, and share what we learn with the team.

We are hiring for a Network Support Engineer / Security Services Engineer role based in Scotland with a hybrid working pattern and a 4-day rotating shift schedule that includes nights and weekends. This position offers a salary of up to 65,000 and hands-on experience protecting live production environments from DDoS attacks and other network threats.
