Network Engineer
Job Description
Salary: £40,000 - 70,000 per year
Requirements:- A seasoned network professional with a strong track record across enterprise environments
- Deep practical knowledge of routing, switching, firewall and wireless technologies
- Comfortable with monitoring tooling and well-versed in network security fundamentals
- Enough systems administration grounding to support servers, virtualisation and backups when required
- Naturally proactive, with the ability to identify improvements and raise them
- A sharp troubleshooter with tidy documentation habits and a collaborative style
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Plan and deliver robust, secure network solutions spanning LAN, WAN, wireless and VPN
- Own the configuration and upkeep of firewalls, switches, routers and access points across the estate
- Monitor uptime, bandwidth and latency using platforms such as SolarWinds or PRTG, and resolve bottlenecks before users notice them
- Serve as the senior escalation point for network incidents, including those affecting remote locations
- Harden the environment through VLAN design, firewall rule management, intrusion detection and patching
- Produce and maintain network diagrams, IP records and configuration documentation
- Support the wider infrastructure when required, including Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, virtualisation with VMware or Hyper-V, and backup and recovery routines
