Machine Learning Implementation Engineer AI

Salary: £42,500 - 70,500 per year

Requirements:

• Broad technical expertise in machine learning, with a deep understanding of ML algorithms, frameworks, and software engineering best practices.
• Proven experience taking research-grade AI/ML code and maturing it into production-ready software.
• Ability to evaluate new generative AI technologies for business relevance and feasibility, with a focus on practical implementation within the National Security Domain.
• Experience delivering robust proofs of concept that bridge the gap between initial research and final application.
• Ability to serve as a key technical resource for the practical application of generative AI within the organization.
• Experience applying a range of data science techniques to support model refinement and software hardening.
• Proven experience building and deploying complex machine learning models into live environments.
• British citizenship and UK residency for the last ten years due to UK government security restrictions.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and refactor complex machine learning models, ensuring they move from experimental stages to high-quality, high-performance production software.
• Harden software produced from research activities to achieve higher TRLs suitable for deployment in the National Security Domain.
• Design and manage the integration of ML models into broader software architectures, ensuring stability and performance.
• Adapt and optimize machine learning models for resource-constrained environments, including edge hardware and Android-based mobile devices.
• Stay current with AI implementation best practices to ensure solutions are maintainable and scalable.
• Refine model code for performance and solve complex technical hurdles during the transition from prototype to product.
• Influence technical decisions within the team and mentor junior members.
• Handle complex, non-routine problems.
