Head of Technical

Salary: £100,000 - 120,000 per year

Requirements:

• Knowledge of cloud, APIs, CI/CD, automation, and platform engineering
• Experience building and assessing technology investments
• Experience managing technical risk, scalability, and security
• Stakeholder engagement experience
• Ability to govern architecture and engineering practices
• Experience in government or a highly regulated environment
• Exposure to data platforms and machine learning

Responsibilities:

• Lead our technical team and provide strategic insight
• Provide strategic technical leadership for secure defence applications
• Maintain our technical architecture and roadmap for the software house
• Work alongside our head of delivery to ensure technical decisions and strategies align with defence applications
• Help ensure delivery of our applications is efficient
• Engage with key stakeholders
• Drive modern engineering practice
• Support work across AI, data platforms, and machine learning
• Reduce strategic dependency
• Translate business needs into coherent technical strategy

We are a well-respected UK client offering a Head of Technical role based in Southampton with a hybrid working model of 3 or 4 days on site. The role offers a salary of up to £120k, along with benefits including 25 days holiday increasing to 30, flexible working, 16 full weeks of maternity leave, a 5% matched pension, and annual bonuses. We are looking for someone to help shape our technical direction, modern engineering approach, and secure defence applications within a software house environment.
