Head of Labs, Data Science, AI, LLMs

Salary: £100,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:

• We need solid third-party management experience, including working with large development and data teams.
• We need excellent understanding of development frameworks.
• You may be a computer science graduate or have a degree in data science.
• We need someone able to run research programmes with blue-sky thinking.
• We need someone comfortable with rapid change.
• We need demonstrated expertise in backlog management, including prioritisation, user story writing, and sprint delivery.
• We need experience in Agile product ownership, ideally SAFe or a similar framework.
• We need effective cross-team collaboration across engineering, analytics, and business teams.
• We need the ability to track, analyse, and interpret KPIs.
• We need solid technical acumen in modern data platforms, medallion architecture, AI/ML applications, and cloud-native infrastructures.
• We need excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• We need someone who can read the room, challenge appropriately, and avoid being disruptive.
• We need someone who can grow a team and attract the right talent.
• We need someone who is naturally inspirational and can energise others.

Responsibilities:

• We will rely on you to lead our labs function as our Head of Labs and AI & Data leader.
• You will inherit our team and continue to build it.
• You will work mainly remotely with some travel to our London offices.
• You will contribute to a fast-moving and growing organisation with a national footprint.
• You will help shape and deliver AI and data innovation across our business.
• You will manage governance and ensure our work stays aligned with strict regulatory frameworks.
• You will lead research programmes and encourage blue-sky thinking.
• You will manage product backlogs, write user stories, and work with development teams to deliver sprint goals.
• You will lead daily scrum activities and sprint planning within Agile frameworks.
• You will collaborate across engineering, analytics, and business teams to execute seamlessly.
• You will track, analyse, and communicate KPIs to guide product improvements.
• You will work with third parties and large development and data teams to deliver outcomes.
• You will use your communication skills to explain technical concepts to engineers, business partners, and senior leadership.
• You will help attract, grow, and inspire talent within our team.

We are a fast-moving and growing organisation with teams based across the country. This role is mainly remote with some travel to our London offices, and for people living outside Greater London, travel costs will be reimbursed. You can live anywhere in the UK for this opportunity.
