Full Stack Engineer - AI
Job Description
Salary: £75,000 - 80,000 per year
Requirements:- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong Python backend expertise with FastAPI or Django/Flask, asynchronous programming, clean architecture, and production-grade code.
- Strong React and TypeScript skills, including architecture of non-trivial frontends, sound state management, performance optimization, and comprehensive testing.
- Proven system design judgment with experience designing scalable, maintainable systems and explaining architectural trade-offs.
- Proficiency with REST, streaming APIs such as SSE/WebSockets, and integrating complex upstream systems.
- Strong SQL and NoSQL skills, query optimization, and data modeling experience.
- Testing and ownership mindset, with the ability to drive features from ambiguous ideas to production.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders and write useful documentation.
- Experience with agentic AI, RAG, tool use, context engineering, or similar frameworks is a plus.
- Familiarity with production LLM systems, including observability, evaluation, token/cost management, and reliability patterns is a plus.
- Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, or Bedrock, with cross-cloud exposure as a plus.
- Experience with event streaming and message brokers is a plus.
- Experience working in fintech, compliance, or other regulated environments is a plus.
- Experience with micro-frontend architecture and Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform or CDK is a plus.
- Design multi-step agent workflows, tool use, and retrieval grounded in our data stores using the Strands Agents SDK.
- Own end-to-end development across a React/TypeScript frontend and Python/FastAPI backend.
- Extend our Chain-of-Thought UI to ensure explainability in a regulated environment.
- Build and extend our evaluation harness and observability platform so we ship changes based on evidence.
- Create custom evaluators, datasets, benchmarks, and automated regression suites to catch quality regressions before production.
- Connect internal APIs, data warehouses, email, and cross-cloud GCP/AWS services with robust error handling and distributed tracing.
- Turn promising AI prototypes into hardened, daily-deployed services through the discover, industrialize, productionize lifecycle and CD pipelines.
- Mentor mid-level engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and scalable engineering patterns.
