Frontend Developer

Salary: £30,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:

• Proven experience with React, Next.js, and TypeScript
• Strong skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Experience consuming internal or RESTful APIs
• Experience with Elasticsearch and SQL-style databases
• Experience with Git and cloud deployment in Azure and/or AWS
• Hold or be eligible to obtain SC clearance
• PyGeoAPI experience would be beneficial
• Familiarity with Jira and Confluence would be beneficial

Responsibilities:

• Build responsive, accessible user interfaces backed by internally developed APIs and search indexes
• Work across the full development lifecycle alongside design and product teams
• Take part in code reviews, testing, and debugging to maintain high quality
• Maintain existing applications and troubleshoot issues
• Help streamline deployment through CI/CD and automated testing

We are a central government department based in Exeter, offering a hybrid contract role with some office attendance expected around 1–2 days per week. This is an initial 6-month contract with pay up to £600 per day, inside IR35 and paid via umbrella.
