Requirements:
  • Significant experience developing and debugging real-time software applications using C++.
  • Considerable experience with Rhapsody UML or another model-driven development tool.
  • Extensive experience developing functional and integration tests, including simulation and hardware testing.
  • Proven experience developing and testing software to requirements and ICDs.
  • Competence with MS Office tools and DOORS for reviewing and updating technical documentation.
  • Working understanding of configuration management tools such as RTC/EWM.
  • Knowledge of Python, Ada, or FreeRTOS would be highly beneficial.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop Linux-based embedded real-time software using Rhapsody and C++ in a multi-threaded application aligned to software requirements and ICDs.
  • Write unit and functional tests and carry out integration testing with target hardware.
  • Adhere to agreed project planning and project quality processes.
  • Use JIRA for project management and issue tracking.
  • Work within a lab environment running software on target hardware.
  • Develop critical missile control software and ensure deliverables align with project system requirements and interface control documents.
  • Participate in peer code quality reviews and help maintain safety and reliability standards.
  • Drive quality through rigorous unit, functional, and hardware-in-the-loop integration testing.

We are a world leader in missile and missile systems, seeking a highly capable and adaptable Embedded Software Engineer to join our Development Facility in Bristol. You will join a growing, dynamic software team working on mission-critical defence systems, collaborating within a medium-sized team while also being empowered to work independently with little supervision. This is an initial 6-month contract role, full time on site with occasional work from home days, inside IR35, based in Bristol, with 37 hours per week and overtime paid at time and a quarter for hours worked over 37.
