Data Scientist

Salary: £55,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for a Data Scientist with previous experience in credit risk, lending, banking, fintech or consumer finance.
• We need someone with experience developing, validating or monitoring predictive models and scorecards.
• We need strong Python skills and a solid knowledge of SQL.
• We need a strong understanding of statistical modelling techniques and predictive analytics.
• We are looking for excellent stakeholder management skills and confidence presenting to technical and non-technical audiences.
• We want someone who stays informed about emerging technologies and methodologies.
• We require the ability to commute to Northampton or relocate before starting work.
• We require the right to work in the United Kingdom.
• We prefer candidates with 3 years of data science experience.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, validate and monitor predictive credit risk models including ECL, pricing, forecasting and provisioning models.
• Maintain application scorecards, affordability models and decisioning strategies that support responsible lending and portfolio growth.
• Support the development of provisioning, forecasting and portfolio monitoring methodologies.
• Analyse customer, bureau, affordability and behavioural data to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
• Use machine learning and AI-assisted development techniques to accelerate model development and improve analytical efficiency.
• Produce model documentation, validation reports and governance materials.
• Work with Credit Risk, Operations, Transformation and Finance teams to turn business problems into analytical solutions.
• Build scalable analytical processes using BigQuery, Python and Google Cloud technologies.
• Develop clear visualisations and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Stay informed about industry best practice, emerging technologies and regulatory developments relevant to consumer credit risk modelling.
• Collaborate across departments to understand data needs and deliver tailored solutions.
• Ensure data integrity and compliance with relevant regulations, including GDPR.
• Identify and analyse causes of urgent defects and assess the likelihood of recurrence.
• Act as an internal consultant to support data-driven decision making and insights.
• Develop differentiated pricing models and educate stakeholders on findings.
• Discover trends and patterns within complex data and present findings to stakeholders.
• Leverage data mining and machine learning tools and methodologies to improve business decisions.
• Document and articulate key learnings from data mining exercises.
