Back End Software Engineer

Salary: £61,000 - 101,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for a mid-level engineer with generalist knowledge of product development concepts, including software design, product requirements, and work breakdown.
• We are looking for experience with agile practices such as TDD, CI/CD, and architecture.
• We expect you to be able to apply your knowledge to solve well-defined problems independently and with your team.
• We are looking for someone comfortable writing code in C#, Java, or Python.
• You should be able to articulate the value of your work in larger projects or team-wide goals.
• You should be comfortable owning and delivering solutions in the face of ambiguity and evolving requirements.
• You should be comfortable asking for and giving feedback.
• You should be able to build good relationships with colleagues across Engineering, Product, and the wider company.
• You should be able to respectfully challenge others to understand problems and arrive at the best solutions.
• You should provide regular work updates and communicate progress and blockers transparently.
• You should seek out opportunities to improve our code, process, and practices.
• You should be able to identify and help implement improvements to processes and standards within the team.
• You should seek to optimise workflow and share ideas for automating manual tasks.
• You must have permission to work in the UK without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities:

• Work as part of our engineering team on a suite of innovative products used by some of the worlds largest investment managers.
• Help drive innovation and deliver great software at pace while keeping sustainability in mind.
• Take responsibility for your part in our success and care about our products and client outcomes as much as writing code.
• Solve business problems through technology.
• Own your work from day one and collaborate to deliver solutions.
• Work within our values while having the freedom to solve problems in a way that achieves our outcomes.
• Release software when it is ready, with multiple deployments per day.
• Work in an agile, Kanban-inspired environment and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Look after a wide set of products and technical services.
• Help evolve our codebase and core technology to be distributed, cloud-native, resource- and cost-effective.
• Participate in debates, brainstorms, and other team conversations.
• Help others when needed and raise issues or blockers early.
• Improve our workflow and help automate manual tasks.
• Collaborate on-site in our London office for 3 days per week during the first 6 months, then at least 2 days per week thereafter.
