Assistant IT Manager - Bolton

Salary: £33,500 - 36,600 per year

Requirements:

• Experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server environments
• Microsoft 365 administration experience
• Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and user management
• Network administration experience including TCP/IP, switching, and wireless technologies
• Experience with virtualisation technologies and endpoint management
• Hardware support experience across desktops, laptops, and mobile devices
• Experience leading or mentoring an IT support team
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
• Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple locations
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for regular travel between sites

Responsibilities:

• Support the IT Manager in the day-to-day delivery of ICT services across multiple education sites
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to on-site IT Support Technicians
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software, and networking issues
• Maintain Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 services
• Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network infrastructure including switches, wireless networks, and firewalls
• Lead device deployments, upgrades, and lifecycle management
• Monitor system performance and implement improvements to maximise reliability and security
• Support the planning and delivery of IT projects across multiple locations
• Ensure backup procedures, disaster recovery processes, and cyber security standards are maintained
• Build strong working relationships with school leaders and staff, providing excellent customer service and technical advice
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, asset registers, and operational procedures
