Principal / Senior Software Engineer
Job Description
Salary: £70,000 - 100,000 per year
Requirements:- Bachelors degree in computer science or a related technical field and extensive technical engineering experience coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred: Masters degree in computer science or a related technical field and advanced technical engineering experience coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Broad knowledge of cloud computing and Azure, with hands-on specialist expertise in GenAI and platform services.
- Technical expertise in Microsoft Fabric, including secure, compliant end-to-end solution delivery; governance for regulated environments; pipeline and job automation and optimization; integration with Azure and Microsoft services; building data agents; and implementing rigorous testing, observability, and responsible AI controls.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Drive innovation in AI and strategic technologies aligned with Microsoft priorities by identifying and creating useful tools, evaluating methods, supporting product adoption and commercial success, sharing best practices, teaching others, and staying current with developments.
- Strengthen customer trust through platform resiliency and security by partnering with stakeholders to establish requirements, using customer feedback to improve designs and solutions, defining metrics and feedback loops, and improving product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, performance, monitoring, and operations at scale.
- Build strategic customer partnerships by working with CxOs to identify, prioritize, and scope programs that improve customer value, and by collaborating with engineering and product teams.
- Provide architectural and programmatic oversight for strategic initiatives focused on AI innovation and platform resiliency.
- Work hands-on across design, build, and production deployment on customer projects, resolving issues and removing production blockers.

Our Strategic Workload Acceleration Team works with strategic customer projects worldwide, helps engineering teams understand services from customers perspectives, and shares practices across Customer Success. This is a full-time, remote individual-contributor role based in the United Kingdom or Ireland, with regular visits to Redmond, Washington, and up to 50% worldwide travel for customer-facing work. The role is classified as Software Engineering IC4 or IC5. Typical annual base pay ranges are £74,700–£122,600 (IC4) and £93,500–£161,800 (IC5) in the United Kingdom, and €77,400–€130,000 (IC4) and €99,800–€172,400 (IC5) in Ireland; certain roles may also be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
