Salary: £59,000 - 99,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Degree (2:1 or above) in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related subject
  • Commercial experience developing embedded software, firmware, or device software
  • Experience working on complex embedded systems or hardware-based products
  • Strong understanding of systems architecture, integration, and software design
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Desirable: experience with cloud-connected systems, cybersecurity, application software development, AI/ML, or regulated environments
  • Desirable: previous technical leadership or mentoring responsibilities
Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop embedded software and firmware for complex embedded devices and physical products
  • Define software and system architectures for connected and embedded systems
  • Lead technical delivery across software, electronics, and systems engineering teams
  • Solve integration, performance, and reliability challenges across complex systems
  • Work with stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams to define technical solutions
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to technical decision-making and best practices
  • Support the development of innovative technologies across a range of sectors and applications

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer for a permanent, full-time role in Cambridge, United Kingdom, within our Deep Tech department. You will take a leading role in the design, architecture, and delivery of complex software-enabled systems, with opportunities to grow in systems architecture, technical leadership, and multidisciplinary problem-solving while remaining involved in embedded software engineering. You will collaborate with software, electronics, systems, and mechanical engineers on innovative products across industries and technologies. The role offers exposure to varied embedded technologies and engineering challenges, influence over system architecture and technical direction, and opportunities to develop technical leadership and consulting expertise.
