Automation Engineer (Back End)

Salary: £61,000 - 101,000 per year

Requirements:

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment.
• In-depth understanding of QA processes and the software development life cycle.
• Hands-on experience building test automation frameworks from scratch.
• Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as JavaScript and Java.
• At least 3 years of experience with Java.
• Experience in API testing, ideally using RestAssured or SoapUI.
• Experience implementing Contract Testing solutions.
• Familiarity with configuring CI/CD pipelines.
• Expertise in setting up and executing testing tools, testing environments, and test data across different stages of the testing process.
• Experience working closely with cross-functional teams, including developers and QA team members, to design, develop, and enhance automation frameworks.
• Familiarity with containerisation technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes for testing microservices in a containerised environment.
• Experience with automated API testing using Java, such as RestAssured or SoapUI.
• Experience with Contract Testing tools such as PACT.
• Experience using collaborative tools such as Jira and Confluence for test case management, documentation, and communication within Agile/Scrum teams.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, including Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar tools for automated testing and deployment.
• Understanding of testing microservices-based applications.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Understanding of accessibility testing.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of developing, implementing, and maintaining automated test scripts using automation tools.
• Verify the usability, functionality, performance, and scalability of our and our clients applications.
• Construct automation tools and expand framework functionalities to accommodate unique team requirements.
• Initiate and establish processes for automation and performance monitoring.
• Contribute to our Quality Engineering teams and our clients in establishing automation and testing best practices for the organisation.
• Collaborate with various teams to address automation challenges and coordinate efforts to resolve performance test failures.
• Support and develop other team members while fostering best practice.
• Keep up to date with industry standards and advances.
• Run projects directly with clients with minimal supervision.
