Network Engineer (Automation)

Salary: £117,000 - 130,000 per year

Requirements:

• Network engineering and network configuration experience.
• Experience with Ansible and Ansible Automation Platform.
• Knowledge of network automation and orchestration.
• Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and practices.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows.
• Experience in Cisco network environments, ideally including Cisco NDFC.
• Experience with NetBox for network source-of-truth/IPAM/DCIM use cases.
• Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM/change-management platforms.
• Experience with automation templates, playbooks, and reusable configuration patterns.
• Experience with pre- and post-change validation and troubleshooting.
• Experience working within established technical architecture, engineering standards, and governance.

Responsibilities:

• Build, execute, and support network automation workflows in line with approved designs and engineering standards.
• Support the implementation of Infrastructure as Code for network configuration and change.
• Apply and maintain approved automation templates, Ansible playbooks, and configuration patterns.
• Troubleshoot issues across both traditional networking and network automation workflows.
• Work closely with Senior Engineers and the Lead TDA to ensure delivery remains aligned with agreed designs, standards, and governance.
• Identify issues, technical improvements, and opportunities to enhance automation tooling and delivery processes.

We are seeking a hands-on Network Automation Engineer to join our network transformation and automation programme on an initial 6-month contract. This role focuses on the execution and delivery of network automation within established architectural designs, engineering standards, and governance. We work closely with Senior Engineers and the Lead TDA to implement repeatable, controlled, and scalable automation across our network environment.
