Embedded Software Engineer

Salary: £33,000 - 73,000 per year

Requirements:

• Several years of embedded C software development experience in real-time systems using VxWorks, RT Linux, FreeRTOS, or bare-metal environments
• Exposure to recognised industry-standard software development processes
• Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Computing, or a similar subject
• Python and embedded C programming experience
• Appreciation of digital electronics
• SPARC, ARM, or RISC-V architecture experience is preferable
• Knowledge of CAN, serial, and IP communication protocols
• Experience with BitBucket/GIT version control
• Experience with Agile/JIRA development approaches
• Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
• Results-oriented, with a can-do approach
• Pro-active and able to take initiative
• Strong decision-making and creative problem-solving skills
• Highly organised with clear communication skills
• Ability to work simultaneously on a variety of projects
• Ability to work autonomously and using own initiative
• Good team working skills and the ability to interface with others at all levels

Responsibilities:

• Develop complex real-time applications to meet customer requirements and interfaces
• Capture requirements and deliver software within tight timeframes
• Ensure effective plans are in place to deliver software in accordance with schedule and PA/QA requirements
• Identify, manage, and communicate risks to development to Projects and Engineering
• Take part in internal software peer reviews
• Carry out other activities as delegated
