Backend Engineer - Contacts Team

Salary: £66,000 - 106,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for someone who gets things done.
• You have experience working with large-scale distributed systems.
• You have strong experience with Java or a similar object-oriented language.
• You have experience working with relational and non-relational databases, query optimisation, and designing schemas.
• You have a strong product mindset and a passion for customer experience; you prioritise work with customers in mind and make data-driven decisions to fix customer pain points.
• You enjoy collaborating with others and bringing people together to solve problems.
• You have experience designing, deploying, and maintaining clean RESTful APIs.
• You believe in and follow best coding practices, code reviews, and open feedback.
• You enjoy writing testable code and believe in Test Driven Development.
• Nice to have: experience with Spring Boot.
• Nice to have: experience working with BFFs (Backend-for-Frontends).

Responsibilities:

• We will have you join an autonomous team and help build the backend solutions that power how our customers interact with recipients.
• We work on the Contacts team, which owns the end-to-end experience for adding, finding, and managing recipients.
• We build the scalable platform that secures tens of millions of bank accounts customers send to.
• We develop the intelligent search algorithms and local integrations that power discovery.
• We create the customer-facing screens where users interact with their counterparties.
• We collaborate closely in an agile way with designers, the product manager, and the analyst.
• We operate across our Tallinn and London offices.
