Job Description

Salary: £49,000 - 66,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python, with 5+ years preferred
  • Proven experience in application support or production support environments
  • Experience with REST APIs, microservices architecture, and integration patterns
  • Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile practices
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Proficiency in JavaScript and at least one modern front-end framework
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Splunk
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
  • Experience with event-driven architectures such as Kafka or RabbitMQ is desirable
  • Knowledge of database technologies, including SQL and NoSQL, is desirable
  • ITIL certification is desirable
  • Experience in high-availability, enterprise-scale systems is desirable
  • Certifications in cloud or Agile methodologies are desirable
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle critical incidents
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Team player with mentoring capability for junior engineers
Responsibilities:
  • Provide L2/L3 support for Python-based applications in production environments
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot incidents, and perform root cause analysis
  • Drive incident resolution, problem management, and continuous service improvement
  • Implement and enhance monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications using Python
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following best practices
  • Contribute to architecture decisions and technical design
  • Optimize performance and improve application efficiency
  • Work within Agile, Scrum, and DevOps delivery models
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipeline implementation and optimisation
  • Support automated testing, code reviews, and release processes
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Dev, QA, Ops, and Product
  • Design and support solutions deployed on cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure
  • Work with modern containerisation and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Manage infrastructure as code, such as Terraform, ARM, and CloudFormation
  • Ensure security, scalability, and resilience of cloud-based systems
  • Develop or support UI components using modern JavaScript frameworks such as React and Angular
  • Collaborate with UX/UI teams to improve user experience
  • Ensure seamless integration between front-end and back-end systems
