Software Engineer

Salary: £40,500 - 68,500 per year

Requirements:

• Excellent communication skills
• In-depth understanding of core Java APIs, including collections, concurrency, and NIO
• Experience with multithreaded systems, Java garbage collection, and low-latency I/O
• Understanding of and experience with design patterns such as Observer, Factory, and Singleton
• Ability to use test-driven development and familiarity with UML and object-oriented design
• Experience with Eclipse or IntelliJ, GIT, continuous build servers, and Maven or Gradle
• Ability to work with and support more junior team members and take technical direction from the team lead
• Ability to work in a multi-faceted role covering development, testing, support, and analysis
• Understanding of benchmark algo and/or smart routing strategies such as VWAP, TWAP, and Arrival Price
• Experience working with agile methodologies
• Demonstrable experience of front office system design and architecture, including algo trading plant and topology
• Business knowledge of equities and/or derivatives markets
• Knowledge of FIX, including heartbeating, login, sequence numbers, and message types

Responsibilities:

• Deliver key functional changes to our ETT strategy engines
• Deliver core framework-level changes
• Work with our quantitative trading group and quantitative traders to capture core requirements
• Be involved in all aspects of the development lifecycle, including gathering requirements, developing code, writing unit tests, reviewing patches, and performing second-level support
