Senior Software Engineer

Salary: £46,000 - 86,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for strong demonstrable experience and passion for backend development.
• We work best with people who enjoy collaborating in multidisciplinary teams to deliver customer solutions.
• We need experience designing and architecting microservices systems, including distributed data management and event-driven architectures.
• We are looking for experience designing and operating containerised software hosted in a cloud provider such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• We need experience with cloud-based data storage such as relational databases, NoSQL stores, and data caches.
• We are looking for experience writing strongly typed languages in the Java family, such as Java, Scala, or Kotlin.
• Experience with petabyte-scale, high-availability software systems would be a plus.
• Experience writing software for regulated industries would be a plus.
• We require candidates to be legally authorized to work in the United Kingdom without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities:

• We own complex technical work end to end, including breaking down ambiguous problems and making deliberate trade-off decisions.
• We ship well-considered code that improves our customers outcomes.
• We contribute to architectural design and keep an eye on the broader health of the systems we work on.
• We raise issues in requirements, design, or code before they become problems.
• We invest time in the people around us through code review, pairing, and helping less experienced engineers grow.
• We collaborate closely with engineers in our UK hub as well as colleagues based in India and the US.
• We proactively adopt and responsibly use AI tools throughout the engineering lifecycle to move faster and build better software.
• We own what we ship, with every service running in production being the direct responsibility of the team behind it.
