DevOps Engineer

Salary: £49,000 - 77,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong experience designing and running CI/CD pipelines and working with source control
• Deep understanding of Git-based workflows
• Proven experience using Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform with HCL in production environments
• Experience with Python for automation and tooling
• Experience with other scripting or programming languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Go
• Strong experience with one or more cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Working knowledge of multi-cloud or hybrid architectures
• Understanding of identity, networking, and security in cloud platforms
• Strong Linux experience
• Windows Server experience
• Familiarity with macOS for engineering workflows
• Good depth of knowledge across DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing, firewalls, and routing
• Experience with virtualisation and hardware, including VMware vSphere or ESXi
• Understanding of physical infrastructure and data centre environments
• Proven experience leading by influence rather than title
• Ability to explain complex technical ideas clearly
• Comfortable challenging designs and assumptions
• Experience developing and mentoring engineers
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Able to balance delivery with longer-term improvement
• Experience working in agile delivery environments
• Comfortable working across multiple teams or clients
• Pragmatic approach to tooling and architecture

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and improvement of CI/CD platforms and workflows
• Own complex technical problems from discovery through to solution
• Define and promote engineering standards and best practice
• Design Infrastructure as Code solutions for cloud and hybrid platforms
• Provide technical leadership within delivery teams
• Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers
• Review designs, code, and pipelines
• Work closely with architects, product owners, and stakeholders
• Communicate trade-offs and decisions clearly
• Contribute to roadmap planning and technical strategy
