Lead Data Engineer

Salary: £54,000 - 94,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require 10+ years of overall experience in data engineering.
• We require at least 5 years of experience working in a data warehouse solution landscape.
• We expect proven ability to lead complex data initiatives and drive architectural decisions.
• We require experience with agile delivery methodologies, ideally SCRUM or Kanban.
• We expect you to be able to take ownership of data issues, investigate root causes, and implement remediation through code and data changes.
• We require a good understanding of data warehouse testing strategies and quality assurance processes.
• We expect a good understanding of Git branching strategies and code management.
• We require a good understanding of technical release management processes in Azure DevOps.
• We expect confident and concise communication skills with the ability to drive alignment, collaboration, and efficiency within teams.
• We require a bachelors or masters degree in computer science, data management, information systems, or an industry-approved relevant field.
• Relevant data solutions development qualifications are preferred, such as Microsoft certification, Databricks certification, or data apprenticeship qualifications.

Responsibilities:

• We develop features, resolve issues, and perform daily monitoring on our cloud delta lakehouse data platform.
• We work as part of an agile technical team and participate in all agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups and backlog refinement sessions.
• We lead architectural decisions, mentor junior engineers, and help establish engineering standards, documentation, and reusable frameworks.
