Data Engineer

Salary: £40,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for a Data Engineer with 2+ years of experience working on data platforms, ideally in product-led or high-growth environments.
• We expect experience building and operating ETL/ELT pipelines.
• We expect hands-on experience with modern data stacks, including Python, SQL, Snowflake, Apache Iceberg, AWS S3, PostgresDB, Airflow, dbt, and Apache Spark, deployed via AWS, Docker, and Terraform, or similar technologies.
• We value the ability to work effectively with teammates and stakeholders.
• We look for a pragmatic problem-solving approach that balances quality with delivery needs.
• We expect a growth mindset, including eagerness to learn, take feedback, and develop technical skills.
• We want someone who is AI-first, curious, willing to experiment quickly, and able to take ownership of learning fast.
• Nice to have: familiarity with Data Mesh or Lakehouse architectures.
• Nice to have: familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and real-time streaming technologies such as Kafka or Kinesis.
• Nice to have: exposure to ML engineering pipelines or MLOps frameworks.

Responsibilities:

• We build, maintain, and improve data pipelines and related systems.
• We follow and help uphold best practices in data engineering, including testing, CI/CD, observability, and infrastructure as code.
• We take part in code reviews and team knowledge sharing.
• We build and maintain data pipelines, warehouses, and streaming systems within our existing architecture.
• We ensure data is modelled and structured to meet the needs of analytics, data science, and operational use cases.
• We contribute to improvements in our data systems and tooling.
• We work with teams across the business to understand requirements and turn them into reliable technical solutions.
• We help identify opportunities for optimisation and tool improvements.
• We deliver against the technical roadmap for data engineering.
