Principal Cloud Software Engineer
Job Description
Salary: £45,000 - 85,000 per year
Requirements:- Experience designing and delivering complex enterprise or cloud platform solutions
- Technical leadership experience, including guiding teams, shaping architecture, or influencing engineering direction
- Strong design and coding skills, with a reputation for delivering high-quality technical outcomes
- Experience developing microservice or service-oriented architectures and designing REST APIs
- Experience with C#/.NET or multiple programming languages, plus a strong understanding of database design, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code
- Experience with Microsoft Azure or other cloud platforms
- Experience with Kubernetes, containers, or cloud-native application platforms
- Experience with Angular or equivalent web development frameworks
- Experience using AI-assisted coding tools to improve engineering productivity and software quality
- Strong communication, ownership, adaptability, and curiosity, with the ability to motivate others and lead through technical influence
- Provide technical leadership for the design and implementation of our cloud platform capabilities using Microsoft Azure
- Lead the technical design and implementation of secure, resilient cloud platform capabilities for our CONNECT Core Services
- Guide architecture and engineering decisions across microservices, REST APIs, data design, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code
- Support development teams with complex problem-solving, design reviews, and delivery quality
- Promote cloud technologies, modern engineering practices, and AI-assisted development tools across our organization
- Collaborate with directors, architects, product teams, and engineering stakeholders to align technical direction with platform and business priorities
