Salary: £63,000 - 103,000 per year

Requirements:
  • We require 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a solid understanding of backend systems, scalable architectures, and software design principles.
  • We require expertise in Java 17+, Spring Boot, and modern backend engineering practices.
  • We require experience with system design and architecture, including object-oriented design patterns, microservices architecture, and API development.
  • We require experience building systems for high throughput, low latency, and reliability.
  • We require experience in system design, data structures, and performance trade-offs.
  • We require excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and align stakeholders.
  • We require strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues across multiple systems or services.
  • We require experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process.
  • We require the ability to work well as part of a team and independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Nice to have: a degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Nice to have: previous experience in the payments industry, fintech, or location and business recommendation services platforms.
  • Nice to have: experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Kubernetes, and Helm.
  • Nice to have: experience with frameworks, SDKs, APIs, and libraries relevant to our technology stack, such as Laravel, Spring, and Reactor.
  • Nice to have: familiarity with authorisation systems such as RBAC, ABAC, and SpiceDB.
  • Nice to have: experience with Behavior-Driven Development or Test-Driven Development.
  • Nice to have: experience with CI/CD pipelines.
Responsibilities:
  • We design, develop, and maintain clean, efficient, secure, and well-tested code to support critical business needs, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability across our systems.
  • We take ownership of features and projects throughout the full software development lifecycle, including scoping, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • We collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product, design, data science, security, and operations, to understand requirements, provide technical insights, and contribute to architecture discussions.
  • We build tools and integrate systems to enhance operational efficiency, reliability, and scalability of products across the business.
  • We contribute to process improvements, focusing on continuous integration, delivery, and deployment to ensure a smooth and stable development pipeline.
  • We participate in code reviews, share feedback constructively, and help elevate the overall quality and performance of the teams output.
  • We mentor and support fellow developers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • We stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in software engineering, payments, and fintech, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • We assist in troubleshooting complex issues related to our systems, providing timely resolutions to ensure uninterrupted service for our customers.
  • We help define and promote best practices in software development, including code quality, testing, automation, and security.
  • We serve as a subject matter expert in key areas, providing guidance and support to other teams.
