Contract Software Engineer

Requirements:

• Proactive and result oriented
• Excellent communicator with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Expertise in object-oriented programming languages such as Java or C#
• Expertise in scripting languages such as Bash, Python or Ruby
• Experience with test-driven development practices such as TDD or BDD

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of high-quality software solutions and tools that meet product and business needs
• Collaborate with principal engineers and architects to define and champion best practices
• Create software solutions that integrate with monitoring and operations tools
• Write clean, efficient code using good design patterns and promote these practices across the team
• Lead research activities such as technical spikes and proofs of concept to explore problems and possible solutions
• Lead troubleshooting and issue resolution activities across the software lifecycle
• Test code using automated test-driven techniques to ensure high code quality and coverage
• Participate in and lead pairing, code reviews, and other collaborative activities
• Support, coach, and mentor junior engineers while promoting technical standards
• Collaborate with product owners, other engineers, and testers to define acceptance criteria and ensure high-quality user stories
• Participate in planning and estimation activities
• Assist with the successful delivery of software from inception to production environments
• Write, review, and maintain technical documentation

We are seeking an experienced Contract Software Engineer to join a leading business and technology consultancy client, supporting a Central London end client in the Soho area. This is an initial 6 month contract, with 1 day onsite per week in London, and the role has been deemed inside IR35. Suitable candidates will be required to complete an online skills test to showcase their role and technical suitability.
