Senior Data Engineer Microsoft Azure Data

Salary: £70,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong experience as a Senior Data Engineer in enterprise data environments.
• Strategic thinker with experience supporting the delivery of a strategy.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills at all levels of an organisation.
• Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Azure data platforms, including Azure Synapse or equivalent data platform, Azure SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, and Azure DevOps.
• Practical delivery experience using medallion architectures (Bronze / Silver / Gold).
• Strong SQL skills and experience with DBT.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the strengthening, evolution, and modernisation of our core data platforms.
• Take joint ownership of existing data pipelines and analytics platforms to ensure they are stable, performant, and trusted by downstream consumers.
• Support and enhance ingestion and integration pipelines sourcing data from MS Dynamics CRM, MS Dynamics Finance & Operations, SAP SuccessFactors, and bespoke and third-party systems.
• Develop and maintain the Azure Synapse-based ingestion and staging layer, including Synapse Link integrations and Synapse data pipelines for orchestration and movement.
• Support the Enterprise Data Warehouse built on Azure SQL Server, including transformations using stored procedures, views, and DBT.
• Maintain a clear separation of bronze, silver, and gold layers aligned to a medallion architecture.
• Collaborate with BI and Analytics teams to ensure Gold layer data models support Power BI semantic models, executive dashboards, and operational reporting.

This is a permanent Senior Data Engineer role based in London or Glasgow, with one day a week in the office. Both offices have large data teams, and the salary range is £80,000 to £100,000.
