About the Role
This is a technical pre-sales role at a Series A AI-powered R&D platform company serving enterprise customers in chemicals, materials science, pharma, and adjacent industries. You will be the primary technical voice in the sales process, partnering with Account Executives to demonstrate platform value, run pilots, and close net new revenue. The role sits at the intersection of deep scientific expertise and customer-facing storytelling.
What You'll Do
Own the full technical pre-sales cycle, from initial demo through business value case development, technical evaluation, and pilot execution.
Architect and build custom demonstrations, workshops, and pilots tailored to each prospect's R&D workflows.
Lead demo sessions and technical evaluations, crafting compelling narratives around R&D data management and innovation acceleration.
Partner closely with Account Executives and champion stakeholders to drive value-based selling.
Write scripts and configure integrations on the platform's integration server to support custom prospect engagements.
Mentor and manage new graduate team members who support technical evaluations.
Travel 25 to 50% to deliver on-site presentations and workshops with prospects.
What We're Looking For
MS or PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or a related field with an ML or computational focus; advanced degree strongly preferred.
4 to 7 years of experience in a relevant role, such as technical pre-sales, R&D digitalization, management consulting with a science background, or software engineering.
Demonstrated experience leading digitalization or change management initiatives in an industrial or enterprise R&D environment.
Proven track record building and demoing technical platforms to enterprise customers.
Scripting ability in Python and comfort configuring integrations and automations.
Familiarity with enterprise R&D workflows, laboratory informatics systems, or ELN platforms.
Strong domain knowledge in chemistry, materials science, or chemical engineering.
Excellent communication skills in English; C1 or higher proficiency in German or the relevant local language required for EU-based candidates.
Authorized to work in the role's country without visa sponsorship.
Based in or willing to relocate to Munich, New York, or London.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $100,000 to $150,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
Location
This role is fully remote, with primary location in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. Candidates in New York, NY (USA) or London, UK are also considered. Regular travel of 25 to 50% is expected.
