Job Description

About the Role

This is a senior design leadership role at a fast-growing, Sequoia- and Index-backed AI procurement platform serving large industrial companies across Europe. The company is at Series A/B stage with ~150 employees and is rethinking how procurement works — combining human expertise with AI agents to make high-impact cost decisions legible, trustworthy, and actionable for industrial buyers.

As Head of Product Design, you will define how humans and AI agents collaborate across the product, build and lead a team of ~4 product designers, and establish design as a true strategic partner alongside product and engineering. This role has direct impact on profitability for large industrial customers and shapes the future of agent-native enterprise UX.

Location: Munich, Germany (hybrid on-site). No visa sponsorship available — right to work in Germany is required.

What You'll Do

  • Define the interaction paradigm for an agent-native product, where AI agents execute procurement workflows and buyers supervise, steer, and handle exceptions.

  • Turn a screen-first product into an agent-driven experience — building the mental models, UI patterns, and frameworks that make complex decisions legible and trustworthy for non-analyst users.

  • Translate technical procurement concepts (e.g. should-costing, raw material indices, contract leakage) into accessible, actionable UX.

  • Own and evolve the design system and component architecture to support agent-driven development and rapid iteration.

  • Build, hire, and lead a team of ~4 product designers — setting standards for craft, speed, and strategic impact.

  • Establish design as a strategic partner in the product trio alongside product management and engineering.

  • Drive company-wide user understanding through UX research best practices and ongoing advocacy for real user problems.

  • Collaborate closely with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders (PM, Engineering, C-suite).

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • 6+ years of product design experience, with at least 2+ years in design leadership and people management at high-growth technology companies.

  • Deep experience designing data-heavy, workflow-driven products — able to make information density an asset rather than a liability.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain design systems and component architectures for complex software products.

  • Genuine fluency with AI as a design material — a clear, articulate point of view on LLMs, agents, and automation in product UX.

  • Demonstrated experience designing UX for AI/LLM-driven products and agent-driven workflows, translating complex AI concepts into clear UI for non-experts.

  • Strong systems thinking: you design in frameworks and patterns, not just individual screens.

  • Demonstrated ability to move fluidly between strategic leadership and hands-on craft.

  • Strong collaborator with product and engineering, with solid stakeholder management and communication skills up to C-suite level.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Nice to have:

  • German language skills (not required).

  • Background in enterprise procurement, supply chain, or industrial software domains.

  • Experience at companies recognised for design excellence.

Location & Work Arrangement

  • Location: Munich, Bavaria, Germany

  • Work arrangement: Hybrid on-site (Munich office)

  • Visa sponsorship: Not available — candidates must have the right to work in Germany
